Newcastle wedding photography

In July, I was  back at the fabulous Newton Hall in Northumberland for Buster and Stephen’s big day.  They are such a fun couple to work with and happy to go along with any idea that we came up with, including heading out after dinner to capture the beautiful Northumberland sunset.  Their day was relaxed and fun and full of vibrant personalities, moments of calm and moments where my face was tired from smiling, the joy this couple had for their wedding day was infections and boy did we giggle!!!

It was such a joy to work with Laurence Sweeney Photography to capture this amazing winter wedding in Northumberland at the beautiful Woodland Hall , So chic and classic it was simply stunning and we got snow!

The Pre Wedding Shoot with Newcastle Wedding Photographer

The pre wedding shoot is one of my favourite parts of my time together with my couples. This is  because it gives them a chance to be in front of my camera and experience what it is like before the wedding day.  This is going to make your wedding day experience feel smooth, relaxed and comfortable.

We also get to create something special together, documenting your engagement! the excitement of getting ready for marriage.  Being engaged is such a special time in your relationship and is often overlooked and overtaken with the planning of your wedding day.

I’m so excited to capture the only time in your life when you get to be each other’s fiancees. Get in touch and I will let you into my best secrets for getting the best out of your pre-shoot experience,

Telling the story of your day is how I like to capture weddings,  including the tears of joy, the laughter and smiles that make your face ache, the fun atmosphere, and of course the drunk dance moves on the dance floor!

Your wedding day has been painstakingly planned and everything right down to the little details has been chosen for a reason so I want to make sure that they are included too as all of the emotion and fun your day will bring.

Nothing gives me more joy than seeing my couples enjoying themselves and having fun with their friends and family.  This is the way a wedding should be its the best day of your life with all your important people.

Are you unsure if an engagement photoshoot something you should be thinking of booking?

So you are engaged and planning a wedding, and you have started to look at wedding inspirations posts on social media, looked at your local wedding venue options, and started to find your wedding photography.

You have started to notice that some are offering Engagement Photo sessions or Pre Wedding photoshoots and you are not sure what they are? You have not considered having one? And not sure if you want or need one.

Here are my 7 reasons why I think that you should say yes to the Engagement Photoshoot.

1. INVITES/SAVE THE DATES

You can create something really unique with your invites or maybe you are sending some of your guests save the date cards. Using your professional photos can create something unique and personal to your wedding day.

2. A CHANCE TO RECONNECT WITH EACH OTHER

Yes, wedding planning can be stressful, planning your wedding day and day to day life can be overwhelming and time-consuming so using this time we spend together as a chance to reconnect with your partner. It sounds corny, but trust me you’ll come away feeling that you have shared at a really nice time and more in love.

3. DOCUMENT YOUR ENGAGEMENT, IT IS AN IMPORTANT ELEMENT OF YOUR LOVE STORY

Your story together started the day that you met! your wedding day is only a part of your story together so why not add to collage of images that you have together with something that marks your engagement, this is a really special time in your lives.

4. YOU DON’T HAVE TO DRESS UP – YOU BE YOU!

On your wedding day, you’ll probably be all dressed up, and sometimes this can limit your movement.   For your engagement photos, you can take a more casual approach. Where what you feel comfy in, be yourself! We can go walking in a field, sit on the ground in the long grass, or dip your feet in the sea.

5. PRACTICE AT RELAXING IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA

Having engagement photos gives you the perfect chance to warm up to the camera and start to feel a bit more relaxed around it. Then come your wedding day, you won’t feel so nervous or worried about being posed.

6. GET TO KNOW YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER

It’s a great opportunity for you to get to know your photographer! To work with them before the wedding day, it gives the photographer a chance to show you how great they are! You get to know each other, it makes you more connected and relax.

7. BETTER WEDDING PHOTOS & LESS STRESS!

Because you’ve had your engagement photos you’ll be feeling less stressed on the day of the wedding. You know the photos will be amazing, you know what the photographer is looking for and how it feels to be in front of the camera lens. It becomes a relaxed experience and a more relaxed you equals less stress on the day of your wedding AND amazing wedding photos – that’s what we all want!

Stephanie and Andy’s Wedding | Documentary wedding photography at Walworth Castle

Stephanie and Andy booked me as their wedding photographer because they loved my natural and relaxed style.

The bride and groom to be requested a few family group pictures and couple portraits but the rest of the photographs would be all unposed, unscripted and just how it unfolded, which is what  documentary wedding photography is all about,

When you have a wedding in a castle such as Walworth Castle you already feel like you are a princess, and that is what Steph my Disney made bride wanted, and when you have a wedding in a castle you just know it’s going to be fabulous.

Everything about this wedding was just lovely, the bridal prep through to the ceremony was just constant giggles,

It was a really great atmosphere, lots of fun and a brilliant celebration for this lovely couple.  Though the whole day I found everyone was laughing, chatting and just having a great time.  Especially when Andy had his future mother in law was down the aisle to Star Wars Imperial March… yes, Darth Vader!

Sarah & Craig’s Tipi Wedding

This Bride and Groom wanted a relaxed chilled out wedding day and a party in the evening so The New Plough in Newcastle was the perfect venue.

The day started for me with the Bride, Sarah and her family at home getting ready with hair, makeup and a few drinks even the father of the bride got in on the act.  It was great fun.  The whole day was seemless and very chilled.  When Sarah walked into the tipi I am sure I heard Craig take a big breath to hold in his emotions, she looked amazing and her dress was just perfect.  Surrounded by family and friends they became Husband and Wife to the joy and excitement of all in the tipi.

Following the reception drinks and yummy cocktails, I took the happy couple down the road to an open space to take their pictures.  It was a lovely part of the day where the couple got to chat and relax with each other, the joy of photographing with a long lens is that I can’t hear what they are saying to each other so I can just observe and capture the natural interaction between them and only posing them when I needed to.

We then went back to the New Plough for the reception meal, speeches and of course the party in the evening with the band Hip Operation which was fantastic fun.

Here’s a quick look at the highlights from their big day.
